Smartcitymakassar.com. SINGAPORE. Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto attends the World Cities Summit, at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, Singapore. The activity with the theme ‘Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Emerging Stronger’ will take place from July 31 to August 3, 2022.

Since his first period, Makassar has been one of the cities in Indonesia that is reckoned with internationally. Several times, the mayor with an architect background has attended international meetings together with other world leaders. Among these, Danny has been as a speaker at the 2018 Singapore World Cities Summit.

Danny explained, this year World Cities Summit is a global mayors, business leaders, and knowledge experts meeting to exchange ideas and find solutions in creating livable cities.

“This activity is in line with the government’s vision to make Makassar as a World City,” Danny Pomanto briefly said, Sunday (31/7/2022).

According to him, to make Makassar a World City, it must make people comfortable and fit to live and to do activities. This is in line with the city government’s mission of restoring inclusive urban space to a world-class comfortable city that is “sombere” (humble) and “smart city” for all.

He further described, Makassar government has eight strategic programs. One of them is the acceleration of Makassar to become a Livable City and a Resilient City.

“So this livable city has been included in the city government’s 24 strategic programs. We hope that through this forum there will be solutions or inputs regarding how to speed up the program,” explained Danny.

Not only discussing livable cities, this forum also discusses the challenges posed by prolonged and unpredictable problem, such as pandemics and climate change.

“This is what we discuss together regarding how cities must remain livable and sustainable, and become more resilient to the challenges that exist,” he concluded.(**)
